Forever Fitness Management

Ten steps to managing your fitness for good

A holistic course covering the most important aspects of fitness and weight management — so that at the end you can build and run a plan of your own, rather than following someone else’s.

What it is

Ten bite-sized modules, each a short video with slides you can keep. Designed to be consumed quickly, baked into your own plan, and acted on.

The course is based on the practical experience of losing a large amount of weight — four stone — and then maintaining a weight I am happy with. It is also backed by referenced research, and the references are in the material so you can check them.

It takes a deliberately balanced approach. It challenges the reflexive “thin good, fat bad” and “thin healthy, fat unhealthy” framings — while refusing to let anyone hide behind myths and untruths either.

Format

Video per module

Walked through, not read off a slide.

Slides to keep

Downloadable, with the research references included.

Bite-sized

Each module is short enough to finish in one sitting.

Ends with maintenance

The module most programmes leave out entirely.

The syllabus

The ten modules

Each one stands alone, but they are ordered deliberately — motivation first, because without it none of the rest survives contact with a difficult week.

  • 01

    Motivation

How to create and maintain the motivation to see a plan through. Short, medium and long-term goals, why vague goals fail, and how to make yours specific enough to hold up on a bad day.

  • 02

    Calories In

What a calorie actually is, how many your body needs, and the factors that change that number — size, age, hormones, genetics. Learning to read your own requirement.

  • 03

    Calories Out

The different types of exercise and what each does for weight management and fitness. Why you cannot out-run a bad diet, and how to choose exercise you will keep doing.

  • 04

    Habits

How the habit loop works, why future discounting sabotages long-term goals, and a practical method for breaking bad habits and building good ones.

  • 05

    Diet Myths

Common weight-loss myths and the truth behind them — spot reduction, damaged metabolism, magic foods, meal timing — so marketing stops costing you money and momentum.

  • 06

    Eating Strategies

Different ways to organise your calories: plant-based, higher protein, set meal counts, intermittent fasting. What has worked, what has not, and how to find your own answer.

  • 07

    Trackers

How to use watches, food logs and scales without letting them use you. What they get wrong, what they get usefully consistent, and when to put them down.

  • 08

    Ideal Weight

What “ideal weight” really means, why the charts are broad and sometimes misleading, and how to set your own target range to live inside.

  • 09

    Fitness and Size

The relationship between size and health, honestly presented — including the evidence that cuts against the easy answer, so you can focus on the goals that matter to you.

  • 10

    Maintenance

How to move from changing to staying — the part most programmes skip, and the reason so many people end up back where they started.

Take-aways

What you leave with

  • A fitness and weight-management plan you built yourself, and can therefore adjust
  • Enough understanding of calories and energy needs that marketing stops working on you
  • A method for changing habits that does not rely on willpower alone
  • Your own definition of an ideal weight range, rather than a chart’s
  • A maintenance plan — the part that decides whether any of it lasts
A note on scope. This is an education course, not medical advice. It does not cover clinical nutrition in detail, and it is not a substitute for talking to your doctor — particularly if you have an existing health condition or a difficult relationship with food.
